Description
Revised from the author's master's thesis at the Graduate Institute of Building and Planning, National Taiwan University. The book documents Taipei's first anti-urban-renewal movement in 1997, the Protest against the Municipal Bulldozers (Parks No. 14 and 15 anti-demolition campaign), and analyzes how "greening" and park policy functioned as instruments of capitalized urban aesthetics, erasing impoverished communities and heterogeneous cultures. Huang Sun-Quan served as the movement's chief organizer and also directed the documentary My New Hometown in Kangleli, the first film in the Chinese-speaking world on urban renewal and social movements. Reissued as an e-book on Readmoo and Kobo in 2019.
